In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, podcasts have emerged as a captivating and transformative medium that has taken the world by storm. Offering a diverse and immersive auditory experience, podcasts have redefined the way we consume information, entertainment, and storytelling. From thought-provoking discussions on complex global issues to lighthearted banter that tickles our funny bones, podcasts provide an engaging platform that empowers creators and connects audiences across the globe. As a powerful tool for knowledge dissemination and creative expression, podcasts have become an indispensable part of modern culture, revolutionizing the way we learn, engage, and stay informed. In this era of on-demand content, podcasts have proven to be a compelling and enriching resource that continues to shape the way we interact with ideas and stories.

Even though the first podcasts emerged around 2002, it took another decade for the podcasts to go mainstream. Initially Apple Podcasts was the only way to listen to podcasts on mobile but over time, many new and better podcast apps have emerged.

How we tested the podcast apps

All podcast apps have some basic features to faciliate searching for your favourite shows and listening to podcasts. If you listen to lot of podcasts, you need the ability to organize them, so that you can find your shows and episodes faster by using features like playlists and folders. Some podcasts have low audio and having volume boost feature would improve your listening experience. In some podcasts, hosts take long pauses in audio. By trimming those silences, you can save a lot of time. We analyzed more than 20 podcast players for all these features and these are the six apps that have come on top. These include best podcast apps for Android, iOS and few of them are also available for web and desktop.
